Grassroots football serves as the inception of the football journey for countless individuals. Anticipation for a weekend match, enduring the pouring rain with parents who wear a smile on the most challenging of days – it's something many of us have experienced. For some, football remains merely a pastime, but for others, it blossoms into a lifelong passion and can ultimately pave the way to a professional career.
Bloomsbury Football is a charity changing the game for young people in London. Founded in 2018, Bloomsbury Football is using the power of the beautiful game to support over 5,000 young people per week to overcome the challenges they are facing and become happier, healthier and more confident individuals.
AOF have teamed up with Bloomsbury Football to show their young people just how accessible a future in sport is, through the act of creativity. Heading down to Bloomsbury Football’s London HQ to workshop with the players to build designs on what football means to them, the AOF x Bloomsbury tee was built from ideas of Bloomsbury Football’s young players, as a nod to the power of grassroots in framing the identity of so much talent across the globe.
The organisation, like many, believe that all young people should have access to football. The charity runs a wide range of programmes to ensure that there is something for every young person - from an elite Academy, and an early years programme, to specialised sessions for refugees or those living with Disabilities. With their qualified coaches and access to the best facilities across London, Bloomsbury Football is changing the game for young people in London every day - on and off the pitch.
