The Shortlist: Our Picks for August

2022-10-17

Football and fashion have forever been intrinsically linked. From the football casual era of the 80s, to today, where large fashion houses are collaborating and producing football-based clothing inspired by the kits of years gone by. In the past few years, we’ve seen a huge rise in football hitting the mainstream and we’re certainly here for it. This month we went on a hunt for the teams and brands that have created some of the best pieces for the upcoming season. Here are a few bits we love this month…

Today Inter Milan and Nike have unveiled their new away shirt for 22/23, which celebrates the Nerazzurri’s international presence with a special design depicting the world. The concept being that the design encapsulates the international presence that has always set the club’s DNA apart from the rest. The shirt will be available soon from prodirectsoccer.com.

As with this season's home and away kits, Arsenal are continuing to celebrate their local community through the launch of the third strip. The pink and navy ensemble serves as a visual salute to the passionate support base they have in north London and in particular the more creative members of the district.

From musicians to DJs and producers, to skaters and even aspirating young urban gardeners, Arsenal are celebrating the passions of their supporters. The 2022-23 home kit was launched as part of a project that saw £5 from every club shop sale donated straight to the Arsenal Foundation. Buy the shirt.

To celebrate England at the women’s Euros, Soccer Bible and Black Line Drinks came together to release the ‘Lioness Collins’.  The drink was released as a limited run of 100 bottles, with every penny going directly to Football Beyond Borders, a UK charity using the power of football to change the lives of young people.

Mizuno boots hit differently. Offering a fresh no look ahead of the new season, Mizuno release their first pack since the ‘Pre Future Pack’, which dropped way back at the beginning of the year. Red in Japanese culture is a very important colour, and is said to represent protection, strength, peace, and power. We’re into it - you can buy them here.

Ok, It’s another pair of football boots in this month's Shortlist, but how could we resist? Last month, adidas finally officially launched the X Speedportal after it was seen floating around the pitch on several occasions over the Euro’s. A lightweight boot aimed to make you go faster. Grab a pair here.

That’s all for this month.
