KiLLOWEN shows his favourite pubs around Stamford Bridge

2023-11-22

It’s under the watchful gaze of the legendary Stamford Bridge that Chelsea FC has not only conquered domestic competitions but has also left an indelible mark on the European Stage in decades gone by.

A club that has gained huge notoriety across the world yet is still heavily routed in its community, Chelsea has amassed an ever-evolving fan base that spans far and wide.

At PENALTY we're on a quest to explore everything that a football fan would enjoy on game day. For our fifth guide in the 'Home Days' series, we met up with Chelsea fan, KiLLOWEN, who showed us his favourite spots around Stamford Bridge.

How did you start supporting Chelsea?

I started supporting Chelsea from when I was born I think, haha. My uncle put me in a Chelsea baby grow from a baby and it was wraps from there. I fell in love with football and Chelsea as soon as I understood what football was.

Are there any specific memories that you remember from being young that made you fall in love with Chelsea?

Apart from us winning all the time… Maybe one of the first games I went to. We won 7-3 at the Bridge and Shevchenko scored a hattrick.

What’s your proudest moment?

Probably winning the Champions League for the first time in 2012.

Do you have a routine on match day?

If I’m going to the Bridge then it’s good to get down early and have a pint or two before the game, or maybe grab lunch if it’s a later kick-off. If I’m just watching at home or the pub then there’s no real routine I just gotta make sure I’m wearing a Chelsea shirt.

Why did you choose these as your favourite Chelsea pubs?

They’re just some of the ones I’ve visited over the years to either watch games in, or to go to before heading to a match. It’s usually a good vibe in each of them.

KiLLOWEN's favourite spots:

1. The Chelsea Gate (formerly Chelsea Pensioner).

2. The Pembroke.

3. The Fox & Pheasant.

4. The Butchers Hook (where the club was formed in 1905!).
